Software Engineer to Lifestyle (part 1)
Being a software engineer also helps a lot in how I organize and clean my room.
I used to organize and clean my room in a very unscientific way, an “OCD” way, that is to categorize by types and colors so they “look” nice and neat. But as many other things that are handled with common sense and visual sense, soon they become a mess again.
Now I know how to actually organize my room, with “Cache” mindset (specifically LRU cache), that is, things I use most frequently will be put in the most convenient places so that I can get it easily and not mess up others.
This approach might not leave you with a continuous spectrum top-down, but it keeps things relatively clean, and most important, I now spend much less effort in chores, like searching for my daily shirts, picking up work gadgets, … since they are laid out in the most visible and convenient places that I can notice immediately without messing up other things and are swiftly formed as part of my muscle memory.
